As I posted in the intro forum, my main collecting areas of interest include Brandenburg-Prussia, German 3rd Reich, misc. German coins and medals with military themes, & Napoleonic medals.

I've seen that some here are interested in 3rd Reich; are there others who share any of my collecting interests? Thanks. -Preussen

I am sure there are members of this forum who share your interest. There are many memebers here representing all areas of collecting, with several that i have seen talking about German coins in particualr...

    good luck !!:)

    Some interest here.

For German I'm primarily interested in coins from Nassau, pre 1846 (specifically the various permutations of Nassau that contained Dillenburg over the years). I also pick up a few misc. German coins here & there. Pretty much interested in the days of the German states & the Holy Roman Empire as opposed to more modern stuff. Haven't done a lot as I have yet to find much of a source for the coins I'm interested in & don't have enough reference material either.

I also have started to collect German notgeld & am enjoying it quite a bit.

Primarily I collect coins from my country (Federal Republic of Germany) and euro coins - particularly those that are, or come close to, circulation pieces. I also have circulation coins from several "non-euro" countries in Europe, and pieces from the US since I go there every couple of months.

Earlier European coins - German Empire, GDR, Netherlands (NLG), Austria (ATS), etc. - I am interested in, but with regard to those I do of course not even aim at having a complete collection. :)

Brian: I have some of the earlier pieces, too. Currently, my collection ranges from 1503 to 1915 for Brandenburg-Prussia. I like Notgeld, too; I once had a fairly extensive collection of it, but I sold it to help finance other areas of interest. I buy my coins from many sources: Dealers, both in the USA and Europe, & even ebay is a good source of quality material, as long as you're careful. I also participate in quite a few large auctions. In German auctions I've won several nice coins from Künker, Peus and WAG.

Christian: Never in my lifetime will I even approach having a complete Brandenburg-Prussia collection, but I enjoy obtaining as many as I can.

Here's my oldest German coin (unless you count Imperial Roman's minted there), probably also in worse condition than anything else I have...

Preussen, those are very nice Prussian Proof coins. That Goetz pattern Prussian 5 Marks is listed in Krause with a 'KMPn' catalogue number.

I did have a very worn Prussian 1901 Kingdom Bicentenary 2 Mark & quite a very nice 1913 Kaiser Wilhelm II's Silver Jubilee 2 Mark.

As for the silver 5 Mark,I had the 1914 one with a hole near the top as a spacefiller.

That 1817 Prussian Thaler reminds me of the famous 1786 Death Reichsthaler, which has 2 dots flanking the 'A' mintmark, because of the reverse design.
