Neuruppin, ca. 70km northwest of Berlin, "the most Prussian of all Prussian cities", is the birthplace of Theodor Fontane, * 1819; + 1898, an important German writer and hold for the most important German representative of realism. His best-known works are "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg" and "Effi Briest"
