Howdy fellow coin peeps, I figured it was time to post my Washington Coppers (Circa 1820 and post-dated 1783) and if you'd like to know more about them, the link below is probably your best source, other than a book: http://www.coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinIntros/WashMILITARY.intro.html On that page, you should notice there are 10 Obverses (1-10) and 7 Reverses (A-G) and the two I have so far are a 1-A and 9-F: #1 Obverse: A Reverse: #9 Obverse: F Reverse: There are hyperlinks on each side description above, so you can click on it/them to compare against mine. Also, on the #9 Obverse, Notre Dame's link is broken but mine isn't so when they correct it mine will probably not work so when that happens and someone catches it, let me know and I'll correct my link to reflect the new link. I've already messaged Louis Jordon and let him know about the boo-boo and he'll get his guys to fix it, so I expect the link to go bad first of the week sometime. He doesn't fool around! Ribbit Ps: I have another Washington Copper that's different than these and I'll post it later.
I picked up one as well, last LB show. It's a 1783 Unity States, PCGS VF-35, bought it for a song, $240. Rlm spotted it in a case and knew I was looking for one.:thumb:
I bought one but it was a fake so I had to send it back and am still looking to pick up one. The little booghers go for a nice bit on Ebay and anywhere else so you did steal it. You need to post yours! :thumb: Notre Dame has a page on them that you can link to for reference purposes. Ribbit
Here's my other Washington Copper. It's a Double Headed Copper Cent and if you'd like to read more on it, Notre Dame's website is always a great place to start: http://www.coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinIntros/WashDOUBLEhd.intro.html Obverse: Reverse: As with my first post, there are hyperlinks on the side descriptions above so you can click on them to compare mine to. Ribbit
Toad: You don't deserve to own those classy pieces. So, I will offer to hold them for you until you get better, mentally. Okay?
toad, I have recently found a washington double headed cent, with a full rim and all buttons visable. do you know how many was minted, and what they are worth?
Not sure how often toad visits here anymore, but you can try him over at the new coin chat forum. Don't have a link for it right now.
*LOL* Anyway, after seeing this I can't help but feel envious. The oldest coin that I have is a 1836 half dollar. :crying:
All the best stuff is pre-1836 - or so says my dealer. Then again there are only a few designs I don't like. And actually large copper is affordable(in my opinion, yours could vary) in problem free lower grades. We can always use another large cent collector.
Hi Frog! I've been wondering where you've been. Good to see you post again. Those coins are simply wonderful (particularly #9) & thank you for sharing...Mike
