I found this coin couple days ago . It's in great condition. Could some help me out looking at the date the 1 has a line that runs to the 9 would this be a error . Thank you.

It looks like a "die chip" perhaps. Hard to see it. Not close up enough.

They didn't have die errors in 1819.

    Die chip or die crack.

Interesting from a die state perspective. My original comment was an insomnia fueled attempt at satire.

I have noticed something else with this coin the line across the top of the number 1 are missing.

Although there are overdates on this series, this particular example is displaying die deterioration / chips / cracks. No premium, and not listed.

Glad you explained that, 'cause it gave me a "whoa, what?" moment. o_O;)

I was going to disparage the coin for being cleaned, but now that I hear that it was a metal detecting find, that is much less relevant. Very cool for a dug find!

Thank you . Is this die cracks
    Thank you .
It has not been polished it had a patina on it that I wanted to remove so I smoked in some lemon juice for 10 min then used a cotton bud with distilled water it came off really easy . Because I took the pictures in sunlight it reflected more , but dose have slight grey patina out sunlight .

It should retone nicely over time.
