George II half pennies

    I think they are both George II copper half pennies, one 1739 and one illegible. Not sure if the photos are good enough to ask what grade are they? I have read that most from this period are forgeries, would that mean forgeries made at the time, or later? Any other observation or comment will be gladly received by interested Newbie, many thanks.

    i think you would mean contempary forgaries and no that is not true of this period. later in the rein of george the 3rd there are many examples as the mint stopped producing lower value coins. i wouldnt worry about a grade to be honest they are great coins to have

    nice coins!

    the second one is the old bust, which means it was minted between 1740 and 1754. i can't quite tell, but i think it's the georgius variety (as opposed to the georgivs), which would put it between 1740 and 1745.
