Here is a coin I have been looking for for a while. It has the wreath reverse with SPQR OB SIV SER. More difficult to find than the Sestertius of the same type, and much scarcer than the denarius. A nice coin to round up my collection of 1st century bronzes. Any comment are welcome.
Eduard, I really like your coin! Something like that is on my list of coins to acquire. I like the color and it looks to be free of any tooling or scratch marks. The subtle red and orange tones are very nice. -tcore-
Thank you Ardatirion, Thank you Tcore for your comments, I looked for this dupondius type for a few years, and it proved quite difficult to obtain until one showed up in Ebay of all places. This coin is quite nice, a bit weak in places, but with good surfaces. I am a bit of a fan of Servius Sulpicius Galba and his coins. I like the way his portraits reflect the stern character for which he was known.
More than weak, I'd rather say wear, which is nice, as it's marks of the coin's life thru History : "one silver dollar, one silver dollar, changing hand, changing hand" Very nice coin, BTW (I'm jealous, having just an As of his, and not that nice) Q
