    Here's my latest (bought it today at the International Coin Fair in Bruges, Belgium) : a massive 39mm 41.2gm Didius Julianus Paduan (Cavino). Just love these guys...!

    What makes this a Cavino rather than an aftercast or copy? Not having seen the item in hand, I can only go by the photo but it looks soft to be original.

    Note that this reverse is most commonly seen used on a horrid fake medal of Lucius Verus. I'm away from home and books but also would ask if this should have SC on the reverse. Who actually originated the reverse copied here?

    If this is not an original, it must be an early aftercast. The reverse with SC is correct (see Klawans 67). The reverse is imitated from Syracusan decadrachms (Montigny 62).
    This medal was brought to auction 7, auction house Eeckhout, Belgium, lot 97, for $200 but remained unsold.
