Future Of Modern Coins

    what do your crystal balls reveal as to the price future of hte marine corps commemerative dollar 2005 and the 2005 satin mint sets? their seems to be a lot of ms70 ngc lurking out there as well as proof 70 ngc.

    Never know, but take a look in the red book for the commem prices from a while ago with similar mintages and same composition and make an estimate rate. Supply should be about equal...

    Yes, but what will demand be? That's a major influence on the price. I have a 1914 Barber Half, and a 1916D Mercury. The Barber Half had a lower mintage, and is in better condition, but the Merc is more valuable. And demand is subjective. It's where opinion gets into the equation.

    That being said, I think the Marine commemorative will hold value for a few years until all the Marines (and their families/supporters/etc.) get one. At that point, I think the price will start to creep down. Although we'll always have Marines (Oo-rah!), new enlistees will have no idea that the coin exists. So demand will go down, I think.
