Does this clip look funky to anyone else? It did to me (See insert). It's offered by a newer seller (score 32 on both sites, from Bidville and Ebay..."janekf2001"). Bidville auction site ref is... http://www.bidville.com/listings/details/index_asp.asp?itemnum=11601388

To me, the clip looks a little too...off. I don't really know how to explain myself on this, but look at the shape of the clip. The radius of the clip is not nickel proportionate.

I'm not casting any aspersions upon the seller, I'm just noting a discrepency. In my understanding of clipped-planchets, the clips are proportionate. Maybe I'm wrong.

It looks man made to me and definitely Post-Mint!

There appears to be a Blakesley effect opposite the clip, which would indicate authenticity.

I put a cent on top of a nickel and it does appear that the "clip" matches the arc of the cent.

I really can't think of any legitimate way for a strip of nickel planchet material to have a cent punched out, and then get back in the nickel production line. [IMG]

I still believe that the error is man made! I copied and pasted the picture to my PC and played with different sized circles inside the clip and it was still out of round (per say) with the contour with a circle (Nickel or Cent) when they are overlayed into the clip (missing) area.
