Hi all, looking for some help again. Today at 7-11 when I got change for a pack of smokes the lady handed me a dime. It's dated 1996 and is in GREAT condition. I've never seen a coin with such a mirror like appearance. The mint mark is "W"...what is this?
It's one you might want to hang onto In '96 the US Mint produced a special dime for collectors with the W mint mark. They were not issued for circulation but could only be obtained in a Mint set. They are not rare by any means as there were almost 2 million of them minted. But they are still a very nice collectible. Nice find
thats an awesome find. A friend of mine has this Canadian Nickel with a picture of a Rabbit instead of a Beaver. It's face and texture is also quite smoother than a normal nickel.
I am very interested in participating in this forum. As a Canadian and a collector of Canadian coins I find that I have very little to contribute to most of the posts. I did find, however, in looking back through some older entries items in my area of interest.I hope it is appropriate to respond to some of these. 1967 was Canada's centennial year. The mint produced a special set of coins for that year all with animal themes. The rabbit nickel was one of those coins. I am sure experienced collectors are well aware of this but it may be of interest to casual collectors
What a great find! Good eye sir. Even though the topics here are mostly containing US coins, don't let that stop you from participating. Feel free to start a thread about Canadian coins. I am sure all would enjoy it. Now I know very, very little about coins outside of the US, but I am an avid learner.
wow, nice find rgs. ive been looking around for those W cents in circulation, but haven't found a single one.
