I took some money out of the bank today and was pleasantly surprised to see this not so old note staring back at me. I'm not a paper currency buff, so it'll probably find a new home soon.
My bank showed me a 1934 $50.00 bill in great shape. They are holding it for me so I will pick it up today.
If the book I am referencing is correct, then 448000 stars were printed for this issue. That makes this a really nice bill to locate for face value. what are the odd's on finding such a note still in circulation and in such good condition?
I'm assuming it was part of an estate and the family cashed it in figuring it wasn't worth anything above face value...such a shame. Had a county treasurer tell me that a guy renewed his driver's license($16) with $1 silver certificates. He said the guys said that, "they were in his wife's dresser and she wasn't using them so he might as well." I'm fairly certain they aren't married any more.
