why do you collect coins? i mean what inspire yo to collect coins? i collect coins because i feel like i am part of big history.
This is going to sound really sad, but through watching the TV shows that are out there, some of the claims were just too outrageous to believe. So I started researching some of the facts, and the passion snuck up on me... I love the history first and foremost. For me it is the ironic clash between the government and the people that is so much fun. Morgan dollars shouldn't really have ever been minted, not to mention the corruption and greed in the government that made it a reality. The stories about how these coins came to be, and who ended up using them, hoarding them, melting them, etc. make the process of collecting and learning a treat for me. Cris
erkhes, I enjoy the history that coins, and their various designs, bring to mind. CohibaCris, Nice signature line. Rings all too true, doesn't it?
My dad use to take me metal detecting and then I got into it....and before I knew it...I was collecting. I enjoy doing it because it's unique. It's not watching tv and it's not your average hobby....and also because not too many people know about it much. Find 1 person on the street that knows what a Morgan dollar is....or even an Ike Dollar. You might have to ask 50 people before you get the right answer. And people asking me about coins is all worth it.
my first taste came in finding a 1912 liberty nickel (which I talk about too much) in a jar of coins (which I got from circulation). Now im hooked looking at the designs of old coins its all about the history, asthetics, and the notion of a hobby bigger than any of us to me
