I got this today. Seller said it was "silvered". It is 23mm 3.81g. The only silvered coin on Wildwinds is RIC Amiens III 27. It has a chi-rho over the shield and in ex is AMB star. This has AMB palm in ex. There is no chi-rho over the shield. Can anyone help me out please. In addition, there is a slice missing from the edge. I took a photo, there is no bronze showing through. Please excuse the really grotty photos.
The coin seems a perfectly normal RIC 11 page 122 but the silvering could be more recent. I don't have a coin of this mint with silver so I suspect they were not one that used a very heavy layer. Until shown other coins of the mint and period, I'd be very suspicious of this.
Seems like the chipped part should be bronze not silvered. The original silvering should only be on the original surfaces not the interior. Maybe the flan was damaged and they struck it anyway then silvered it? Nice looking coin though.
