I tried canceling my 10 bison rolls today, mint said too late, just return them. My order has said "In stock and reserved" for at least a month.
Has anyone looked at the price of the unopened mint rolls...lately? Can't get $8.95 for them. Frustrated seems to be the word!

    Frustrated with mint ordering

I first ordered 1 set of the P & D Bison Nickel Rolls from the mint a few weeks back. A week later I talked my wife into letting me have the cash to order 4 more rolls for a total of 5 sets. I received the 4 rolls in the mail this morning, and my 1 set order is backordered 6/11. Go figure!!

I ordered 2 Proof dollars from the mint on 5/10, when I would check on the order it said the same thing, "in stock & reserved". So I called tuesday to inquire and was told they were ready for "picking" and I should have my order shortly. No sooner did I hang up the phone then a message showed up in my e-mail that said "order cancelled, customer changed mind".

I immediatly called back and spoke with ANOTHER person who had no clue what had happened but graciously reordered them and waived the shipping fee. Today I got an e-mail they shipped. Helluva way to run a business!!!

Checked eBay and some people are paying MORE than $8.95 for the 2-roll set, but some people aren't buying for even LESS than that! What a crazy market...

Looking at the number of rolls and bags that were minted, it's easy to see that the circulation grade buffalo's aren't going to be worth any premiums. Sort of follows the trend of the old bi-centennial quarters that everyone thought were going to be worth a premium, thus the ordering frenzy, thus the high mintage figures, thus the current value. They (Bison nickel) will be a popular coin but IMHO just too many were made and the low quality of the strikes will reduce their future values. I think I will put my remaining rolls where they belong, in circulation.

My order was picked on 5/10....still no rolls. Luckily I ordered 1 set when they 1st came out. :)

Be patient fellow Buffalo hunters! Within the next month to month and a half the buffalo will be GONE forever (again)! Good things take time so lighten up a bit and set on those buffalo's and let them cure a little bit. What do you think the Morgan dollars were worth the first couple of months after they were issued? Be patient and good things will come! Put your eggs back in the next and sooner or later they WILL hatch! Lets just see how you feel in the not to distant future!

So I guess we will have the two satin finish Buffalo Nickels from uncirculated sets to collect in addition to the two Buffalo Nickel regular business strikes in rolls or bags.

    Bisons, Lets see: I have (300+) P&D sets, (4) 50 roll D boxes, (2) 50 roll P boxes, (8+) 1000 coin bags of P and D.

I don't think I have enough. Still NEED to buy more, heh, heh.

MY wife thinks I'm crazy and I don't think she know HOW MANY Bisons I have, my daughter thinks it's cool.

I'm having a problem with my P & D mint roll sets. They keep opening themselves up!!!!!

I was just surfing thru ebay and tripped, accidently hit the keyboard and the buy-it-now button on another box of 50 rolls of P bisons. Shhhh I hear my wife....bye.

I sure hope this comes true. You are right. I think I will sit on my remaining un-opened sets and just see what the future holds. Who knows, I may have 319 of those "rare" errors in my 8 rolls!

Funny thing, when I went to the monthly coin show today none of the dealers even seemed interested when I offered my 4 sets to them. Said they couldn't get rid of what they had. Of the ones that did say they would take them, the highest offer was $6 for each 2-roll unopened set. They said that if I had any proofs, then they would be VERY interested.

    U.S Mint ordering

Let's see did "Al Gore" really "invent" the internet?
The U.S. Mint website reminds me of the first Lunar Landing when the mission was controlled by the "on-board" computer. Little did the general population realize that this sophisticated devise had the computing capacity of your average alarm clock of today. ( AND THIS COMPUTER PROBABLY COST MILLIONS OF DOLLARS) . Then over the last couple of weeks (or has it been months), the U. S. Mint has been undergoing an up-grade of it's website to further enhance it's operational functionality for the general population. Unfortunately, the computer wiz-kids were all relatives of the "Bush Clan" and probably after several million dollars, and weeks of down time, guess what? SAME OLD-SAME OLD....!!! I suspect that they have resurrected the original "Lander Modual" computer and retrofitted it. But who's counting?
I have to agree with Crystal in general. The new nickels and in particular the Buffalo will be the coins of the future. As a collector and in general, "a stupid old man", I have to believe in my heart that any coin or coins, that are only minted for a two year period (and four varieties of those) will someday be available only at a premium regardless of the mintage figures. Of course only time will tell.
I have to go back to my "roots", if you will, and state that "if I like a coin and it appeals to me, I want it." Forget about the future and the future value, and it's availability, and it's probability of increasing in value.
Collecting for me is something beyond all of that.

    Frustrated with mint website

The portion of the mint website that you use to check on, and track your orders has been down the entire afternoon. It seems things keep getting worse and worse at the mint.

Why dont the mint just make BU silver mint rolls for various coins like the quarters and dimes. I would love to buy some non-proof new silver coins in smaller denoms from the mint. What can I say, I like very pure metal coins.

Well it's easy enough to buy them - you just have to buy older coins and forget the present day stuff.
