Hi. If anyone has information on this piece, I'd appreciate it. I've thus far been able to determine that was Dupuis, and the artwork is called "La Source." This piece is stamped in silver, as the edge of the piece is labeled argent, with a hallmark. If you know how many were made, when they were made, who made them, or an average value, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about it.
The area below the little angel may have been reserved for individually engraved texts, as on this modern plaque: http://boutique.monnaiedeparis.fr/i...oductID=ly6sEwEirAcAAAD.UUrlL_y9&Boutique=B2C Oh, and ... this seems to be one like yours: http://www.muenzen-moeller.de/Auktion/51/14.htm On that page look for item # 2183 and click on "Avers" to view the obverse and "Revers" to - guess what. In that condition, the plaque brought €120 at this auction, see http://www.muenzen-moeller.de/Ergebnis/Ergebnis.htm Christian
Interesting information. Thanks for sharing. The plaque in the auction was bronze. Mine's silver. I'm still guessing that it's worth at least as much as the bronze one.
Daniel Dupuis was a medallist in the late 19th and early 20th century. "La Source" is a reference to several works by Jean Dominique Ingres of a nude, usually with a jug pouring water. At one time I seriously pondered collecting these medals, they are beautiful - the MdP still strikes some of them though.
