I picked up a pair of French 20 Franc "Lucky Angels." They were supposed to be AU or better. To my eye, they don't look like it, but I am no expert at grading. I think I can exchange them if I'm unhappy (overall I'm not overly concerned--wasn't expecting perfect).

Anyways, just looking for some opinions on these. My main concern is that I haven't paid for counterfeit gold (no I don't have any weights either).

I'd say XF tsk. If you paid more than 20% over spot, return them. You can get BU for the same money.

Thats about the grade I thought they were. I think I paid 8% over spot.

Very nice buy! French coins are not very popular in my country sa I had no occasion to see "rooster" 20 FF gold coins. I like them. :)

    Hello,

I like very much those, but even more the 50 francs.... but they are much much more expensive, as they are quite rare

Thanks for the compliments guys. When I get a chance, I'll try to get some better pictures (particularly of the writing on the rims). And yes, the 50 francs are also nice but alas a pair would have broken me :).
