I have a French coin of some sort. It's date is 1897, and it's worth is '5 Centimes'. The head of the coin, on the outside edge, read 'Republique Francaise' and has the head of a woman of some sort (I do not know the identity of the woman). The rear of the coin, on the outer edge, reads 'Egalite Fraternite Liberte'. In the inside of the words, a 'wheat back' type design is printed, with the words '5 Centimes' on the inside of that (With an 'A' below the coin's worth). Slight dents and scruffs on the coin, looks kind of old, considering it's date.

So, is this coin worth anything? Or is it just something to keep on my dresser to marvel at? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum Smeff.
The lady on your Paris Mint, Third Republic copper coin is "Liberty". There were 12,600,000 minted in 1897, and it's KM#821.1 in the Standard Catalog of World Coins.

Valuations in the 3rd Ed. catalog start with Fine ($1) and go up to Uncirculated ($12). Without a picture it's pretty tough to grade your coin, but "dents and scruffs" indicate a Very Good, at best, worth perhaps 10-25¢.
