French 1648 Jeton

I am looking to source a 1648 French Jeton coin. I have been looking for this coin on and off for the past 3 years and haven't turned anything up.

I'm pretty sure I saw one of that type sell on ebay.fr a few months ago. I remember it because of the similarity to one in another thread here concerning `ufo's'. Sorry I can't remember who the actual seller was, but it was one of a batch of about 30 or 40 separate auctions of base metal jetons from that time frame.

Probably your best bet to source one is via the main dealers in France.

The one I would check out first (as in dropping them an email) is :

They are generally very helpful. They have fairly regular sales of jetons (check out the jeton auction catalogues on their site).

Any idea on what the jeton sold for?

www.cgb.fr does not have any in stock

 

I'm fairly sure that it sold for around the €15 mark. It wasn't in particularly good nick.

Did you email cgb with your query or just check their inventory on-line? If the latter, I stick to my original advice that you should drop them an email. Nothing ventured n'all that.

They do not have inventory of this coin, I guess its on their website for reference.

Atleast I got to see one in a museum in Belgium.

 

I did not expect them to have one in stock. What I did expect was them to take note of yourr interest in the item and help locate one for you.

Can you tell why you have singled that particular jeton out for your search?

What is depicted on the coin? It looks pretty odd.
