I got a freemasons coin and I dont know how to find out how much it is. Can somebody please tell me where to go. I got this a a yard sell so I yanked it up. Also it is in a hard plastic case. the year on it is 1832-1911 I will show a picture when I can.
How do you know it is a freemason token? Does it say MASON & CO. on the top (or elsewhere)? If so then you have a privately issued token by F.C. Key & Son to advertise for E.L. Mason & Co. coin and stamp dealers. But you really need to give us a picture because otherwise, we can't help ya!
Ok here you go this is the best picture I could get with my picture phone. ok the back of it says : "ancient accepted scottish rite of freemasonry" (top) "northern masonic jurisdiction" (bottom) the front says: "Samuel Crocker Lawerence" (top) "Famous masons" Bottom it was made in 1996 and it also has the date 1932-1911. I am thinking it might be worth some money but I am not sure.
Try this link. http://www.masonsindelaware.org/scottishrite/wilmlodgeofperfection.html I would guess that the dates 1832-1911 is the life of the IllˆSamuel C. Lawrence, 33°, Sovereign Grand Commander. The token would probably have been made in dedication to his life in freemasonry and his being raised to 33°. But that is just my guess.
that tells me some good information about the guy on the coin. thank you I wanna try to see how much it is worth and how many were made.
To find out a worth and number made you may have to contact the lodge indicated in the link previously posted.
how much do you think it would be worth then? what name should I look for in wilmington? I cant seem ti find anything on it
If it is silver. Silver content. Unless you can find a collector of masonic tokens that would pay more. This is though, just my opinion. I have a few myself and they are of sentimental value to me and would mean nothing to anyone else. You could try e-bay, might get lucky there. If you are goimg to try to contact the lodge you may need to contact the Wilmington, Delaware chamber of Commerce to get phone and address.
ok I got the number for the chamber of commerce. I will call them tommorow and see where I can get. thank you for your help.
Contact any Masonic lodge near where you live - they'll be able to provide you contact info for the lodge in question.
well, masonic lodges are usually under *cityname* Mason Lodge/Chapter you could call your mayor or city hall, and ask there.
http://www.supremecouncil.org/new/home.asp Here is the link to the Scottish Rite Freemasonary Nortern Jurisdiction. You might be able to find some info there. Being this is a Scottish Rite token I'm not sure if a Masonic Lodge would have info on them, being they are two seperate entites.
I know this has very little to do with this thread, but speaking of masonic coins, I happened across this on ebay while looking for interesting counterstamps: http://cgi.ebay.com/1853-Counterstamped-Seated-25c-w-Masonic-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ8342827255QQcategoryZ11964QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I thought it was kind of neat, although probably not easy to authenticate.
