Yet again another fugio the best of the lot of 'em. I just won this one off ebay 5 minutes ago. This one is a N20-X and is a R6. hya: Thank you Toad for attributing it. We would never have gotten it without your input. This will be it for a while, as it will be my 14th birthday present. But fugio #2 is being sent back to the seller as it was not as described. The sellers pics are not the best but here they are, the seller has been the owner of the fugio for the past ten years. This is an ad that ran in Coins Magazine February issue by Jack H. Beymer. :rolling: :kewl: Here is the coin. dd: Whatcha think?
Whoa, Freaky! A R-6 eh? Very impressive. I like the little wear on "STATES UNITED" and "WE ARE ONE". The green on the 12:00 ring bothers me a bit. Good detail on the obverse especially the sun dial roman numerals. A bit of corrosion has attacked the planchet, but not unusual for something this old. I like the piece, but do have some reservation as to what that florescent green is.
LOL! Yeah, The reverse is really nice IMHO. There is some corrosion though especially on the right side of the obverse but you are right it is 200+ years old and it is an R6. hya: I may send it to NCS and they should be able to kill the mutant green color on the back right?
I honestly don't know......but for an R6, it would be worth it to try in my view. Perhaps some others will chime in to give some advice.
Thanks. I am thinking if that ad was running this coin for 3 g then I did pretty good at $337.88 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290290796948 Yeah. And hopefully they don't charge too much.
I like the reverse and don't think the green is very distracting, but it may end up damaging the coin if you let it sit too long.
Thanks. I will get NCS to kill the green. I figured it up and I am pretty sure it will cost $42 for conservation, detail grading, slabbing, and variety attribution.
Not saying it's a bad coin freaky...as it is very nice and rare. but with the obverse like it is, would NGC even grade it? stainless
Oh ok. I thought you meant you were going to get it cleaned my NCS, then get it graded by NGC..which is what a lot of people do. stainless
Na, there is corrosion on the obverse, it wouldn't pass with NGC. I will be happy with it in a NCS details slab anyway.
Send it to NCS with a stipulation that if it's gradeable, send it on to NGC but if not, slab it NCS with details grading and attribution. I'm not sure if they allow you to provide your attribution on the form but if they do, it would assist them in figuring it out without getting it wrong. I can't wait to see your Mom's pic of it! :thumb: Ribbit Ps: With all these Fugios you're getting, is your Mom single?
Freaky, i saw that one and was going to bid - but forgot to. So i am really glad i did not get in your way, and that you got it. Eduard
