A friend of mine told me that she has a nice collection of coins, but she doesn't know how much it's worth. Since I'm a beginner, I thought I'd ask here. This is what she said: "I got the complete franklin mint set." When I asked her what years, she said: "It is the entire set, 10 wooden sheets of coins" I'm not familiar with the Franklin sets, so I have no idea of where to start looking. Is there any indication of how much the coins would be worth?
It sounds like she has a collection of silver rounds struck by the Franklin Mint ( a private mint ) - not coins. There are people who collect these but I haven't a clue as to what the value over and above the silver content might be. But I can just about promise you it's not much.
Perhaps she meant Franklin half dollars? http://search.ebay.com/1948-1963_Fr...tionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch Then the set could be worth a couple of hundred dollars, depending on the grade (they're not graded)
Perhaps - but usually when someone says Franklin Mint - it's not coins. But they don't realize they're not coins. To most folks - any round piece of metal with a design on it is a coin. Easy to find out though - just ask her.
