I have this "coin" set into this business card from Richard M. Reinhart, Jr a sale representative of The Franklin Mint. I think it is a commemorative but I can't find it listed in any of my books. It's gold in color but looks more brassy than gold. Any idea were to get information on this item? It's a 1969.
You probably have a medallion made by "The Franklin Mint" which makes all kinds of medals and rounds and sells them for way above melt value and when you go to sell the you will only get about melt for them. You will need to find a Franklin Mint collector to find out the collectible value of it. A numismatist will onlypaymelt for it if that.
When I say "melt value", I am refering to the cost of the raw metal in the item. It could be silver, gold, copper, brass or any other number of metals and metal alloys. Your coin is probably silver that has tarnished.
I have simular Card/Medals from the Franklin Mint Collectors Society from the same era. Yours is a Card/Medal Given to Sales Reps, although yours is the first one I`ve heard of. The medal is about Sac dollar sized and gold plated silver if I remember correctly. I will have to look it up.
Maybe I should see if the Franklin Mint has a web site with some information. I'd appreciate hearing about anything you find out. Thanks.
Here is the info Moen1305. It is brass. I have a slightly different version. Most Franklin Mint issues are essentially worthless except for precious metal content. Some still do collect them, though. Bruce
