I found these for sale online wondering if this is worth the 200 they are asking or if I should throw a lower counter. Looking to kick-start my collection. IMG_20190226_065728.jpg

Sounds like a good deal if you will enjoy it.

I tend to agree. That’s 31 cents per coin. Not an amazing deal, but I’m assuming they’re UNC and if you’re looking to break into world coins, it would be a way to do it. I would personally recommend digging through world coin bins, as not every coin you’re going to find will be UNC, but do what makes you happy. :)

The China ones go for a good chunk of change, so even less than that per coin when you take that into account. Sounds like a good deal to me if that's something you're interested in.

As long as it is complete then it is a good deal. They are a neat set.

I wonder what it cost originally to build this set.

Does the seller show photos of the coins inside each album? It wouldn't be the first time that someone tried to pull a fast one.

If it includes all of the coins, it seems like a reasonable deal to me.

If it were me, I'd ask the seller to post photos of the pages with the coins. The seller's info seems to (trickily) avoid specific mention of any coins.

There's a lot of great scarce cu/ ni moderns in these sets. Quality tends to be good to excellent (some even better) and many of these are available from almost no other source.

In time they will be highly sought after and extremely valuable.

The downside is that almost nobody collects moderns. God knows if they ever will. It doesn't matter that a coin is rare if no one cares and nobody collects.

Some of the copper in these should have been removed and stored 20 years ago.

You realize you are asking for something like 150 images?

Take photos of an entire page. Turn to the next page, and take a photo of both pages. Six or seven photos for each album should do it.

I'll be long dead before these will be worth anything. The Franklin Mint always package their stuff to look SO tempting and valuable but, most if not all is junk.

Just some clarification, these are actual coins from those countries, not Franklin mint medals or other hyped items. FM did do the fancy packaging and included a stamp from the country. As others have said, some of these coins can be hard to find in UNC condition

Sorry, but this is contradictory and doesn’t make any sense to me. If nobody wants them, why would they ever be “extremely valuable”?

Because eventually they won't be "moderns". Even ancient Greek coins were moderns once upon a time. Meanwhile, because no one puts them away now they will be hard to find in the future when they are no longer moderns and therefore "collectable".
