What would an average circulated set of Franklin Half dollars be worth or possibly a minimum such as melt.

I don't know much about them other than Red Book prices and as far as grading I can only guess with the explaination given in that book.

I gave $67. hoping I didn't get hurt here. I did find in looking through them though it was not a complete set. A '53s was in the place of a '60.

Well, there's 35 coins in a full set of Franklin halves, and if you assume that all of them are only worth bullion value, and you assume that bullion value is worth about 4x face value of the coins, then you get [4 x (35 x .50)] = $70 BV. Therefore, your $67 was slightly under it. If you assume that at least some of the coins have a value over BV, then I'd say you did pretty good!

Your minimum, or 'melt' price would be approximately 5X face value. The key dates should be worth more than melt to a collector. How many coins did you end up with? The 49 D & S mints should be worth the most, depending on condition of course.

There are thirty five coins. This is a picture of page 1. Some of the rest are in the same condition but most are better. Not a good photo but seems to be the best I can get with my camera at this distance and with this lighting.

Most places charge $100-$110 for a set of uncleaned franklins.

your picture shows the reason i love the franklins so much. The way they aged!!! Most aged frankins i have come across that have not been cleaned (or werent proofs) all have this distinct look to then. I think the coloring in the picture is due to your lighting, but i can still see the unigue way the franklins wear from your picture.

    A real nice set IMHO!!
