A couple of years ago, a friend of mine called me to see if I wanted some old half dollar coins. I asked him where he got them. He told me a neighbor's husband died and he had collected half dollars. I bought almost a complete set of Franklin Half Dollars and many Walking Liberty Half Dollars. All of them were in very good condition and in 2x2s's. There were a lot of coins that might be Mint State and FBL. I've been holding them for a couple of years without looking too closely. Any idea of a good book about both of those half dollars? I'm not much in paying to grade them when the cost to grade them is more than the value of the coins.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
He also had a lot of Kennedy half dollars as well that he "gave" them to me to boot. All of them, or most of them are in great shape and are also in 2x2's.
    Thanks to all of you.

I've been meaning to get the Mega Red Book 6th Edition. It has a lot of additional information on half dollars. Since I haven't gotten around to buying it, I can't speak to how good it is.

I'm on the way to church, but I will be back sometime after lunch. Thank you for your help. Rick was on TV last night going over Franklin Half Dollars and their history. The book on the Franklin was written by him. He may overprice his coins, but his information is very good.

Whitman has an "Official Red Book" on "Franklin & Kennedy Half Dollars" third edition. I have found these books to be consistently informative.

They also have an "Official Red Book" on Mercuries, Standing Liberty Quarters, and Walking Liberty Halves.

Thanks for your recommendations. I got the Franklin and Kennedy book and I went all out for the 4th Edition of Mega Red book. I've only scanned some of the pages, but there is a lot of info in the Mega Red.

I got the Mega Red Book and the book on the Franklin and Kennedy Half dollars. One was delivered on one day and the next day the other came. My wife is usually pretty even, but she told me I read too much.
