I agree, look great on a wall. I always considered getting one of these. Yours is the grey background, didn't they also make another color background? I believe there are a couple of unprinted notes on these, unavailable to collectors unless someone cuts up a shield.
The cool part about these is that every note on this sheet is a uniface proof made specifically for these shields. I do believe that you are right tho... that there are a few of these notes that never made it to production and the only way to get them is to cut up a sheet.
the two 15 cent notes are not represented in Friedberg's Paper Money of the United States and presumably never issued
Really nice. The last one that I saw was back in the early 1970's. Even then it was worth a lot. Far more than I had to my name at the time.
I saw one of these up close at a meeting of our local coin club. They are total eye candy! I think you'll be staring at your wall a lot.
"I picked this up a few weeks ago. I was thinking about putting it on my office wall." Very nice piece. I had not seen one before. A quick Google search replied with an interesting article describing the history of the Shield. What an amazing history: "Many Specimen notes of the second and third issue are printed on captured Confederate paper that was taken in 1862 by the Union ship Mercedita from the Confederate blockade runner Bermuda (later, USS Bermuda)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractional_currency_shield
