What is a good price for a fractional currency note? I don't care which series, or condition. Also, how much would a modern 1 dollar star note cost? I just want to have one to say that I have one. Thanks!

You can pick up a 5th series 10 cent Meredith for $10-$12 pretty readily in VG-F... very common fractional.

One dollar star notes are also easy, you can get the more common silver certificates in stars easily enough as well, $10 in decent shape. Modern stars from common runs for less.

Modern $1 stars can be acquired for $1 each and a little strap stacking time. Go to any bank with $50+ (the $1 straps come in $50 and $100 increments), ask for some singles, and dig through them until you find a star. This is fun because you not only have the chance to get stars, but you can also find errors, fancy S/N's (make sure not to get carried away with this lol), and older singles. You can do this with any denomination, as long as you have the cash to buy the strap.

Just as a for instance, here is 54 pages of strap searching finds:

Some pretty fenominal, others not so much.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you're specifically looking to buy nicer CU examples, eBay is always a good place to look around.
http://www.fstctycurr.com/index.html is another personal favorite of mine. Fair prices and the guy that runs that website is pretty cool.

Depends on how low of a grade you are comfortable with. I bought a lot of 5 fractionals in good condition for $5 at an auction last month. I bought a more rare fractional for $10 in Fine condition the same month at another auction.
