Title says it all. Found these while buying the mutilated pile at a bank. The one with all the writing has a handwritten date from November 2006. How can someone mutilate a bill like that. The other one was attacked with a so-called counterfeit pen. I just wish people would learn that those are useless. The note would otherwise be in AU condition. I'm hoping that given enough time, the marks will dissappear.
pretty neat find! :kewl:that counterfiet pen mark should disapear with time. it actually looks like it wasn't too long ago when it was marked! :goof:that other one looks like some bored kid that needed money and wrote on it and spent it. those notes are still worth $3-$4 each.
mutilated notes or not. still cool finds. Even with the marks, i would think they would bring more then a couple dollars over face. maybe not though. I did do one thing over the holidays however. I stopped by my mother-in-laws bank (she is a branch manager) and she let me look through the mutliated pile of one of the cashiers. At this bank, she said all the cashiers keep all their currency 'in' their drawers. So i went through a couple hundred in $1's, (no 2's), $5's, $10's and a few $20's. All i found was a 198x dated $10 note. No marks on it at all, and i wouldnt think in all that bad of shape either, but it was in their mutilated pile. I did buy it for face of $10, and will add it to my collection even if it is only worth $10
I figured as much. When you look at the overall percentages of what we woud like to find compared to what is out in circulation, i wouldnt expect to find a whole wad of old silver cert or so would be very cool but not likely. It was just cool that i was able to do it. i know my mother in law wasnt too keen on the idea, and i wasnt going to ask, but my wife pushed the issue (god bless her heart lol) i was happy in finding even a modern old style note!
