Found this searching dime rolls for the first time

    I found this coin roll hunting 2 days ago for the first time I tried dimes I'm also new to all this coin thing i don't really know anything just starting the coin collection thing is this a good find?

    That is a 1943 steel cent. Not worth much in the condition it's in.

    not worth much but still an interesting first find for you. if you are looking for silver dimes look for dates starting at 1916-1964. good luck.

    First, welcome to the neighborhood!

    Like others have said, it's not worth anything over face value, but shame on the person who was too cheap to get one more dime to fill a roll.

    Since you are just beginning, I'd suggest that you invest about $15 to purchase the "Red Book of United States Coins" published by Whitman. While I don't recommend that you use their price guide, the book contains a world of information about every coin that has ever been made and/or used in the US.

    Thank you guys for the info an Chris for the invite. Where do I get the red book? I will be Going thru dimes again today last night I went thru a box of halfs and I found 6 40% halfs but 3 were really great I think I don't know how to tell but the 3 look brand new that was also my first time going thru halfs

    The 1965-1969 halves are worth melt value only...however, finding 2x1970 halves is quite something. Those were only released in a mint set not for general circulation. Impressive.

    I got my Red Book at a Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

    I don't know what recent sales have been, but the real answer to your question is: whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

    EDIT: For prices however Red Book is not very accurate.

    I just got a 1947s penny an 2 1964D dimes working the register right now it wasn't a roll find but I think it was pretty good
