Found this quarter and don't know what to make of it

    [​IMG] [​IMG] I keep a change jar and was tossing in a handful when this quarter jumped out at me. This is the front and the back of the same quarter. Have you even seen something like this?

    Yes we have seen this. It's PMD (post mint damage). Soemone had fun with grinder or other tool.

    I found one like that once, except it was a nickel, and the grinding was done on the obverse.

    It looks almost like one half of a magician's double-headed quarter. (i.e. grinding down the reverse of two coins - one slightly smaller diameter to fit inside the rim of the other - then affixing both together.)

    Maybe, but all the magicians coins I have found have lathe marks. This one just looks like someone got bored.

    I have seen really cool "spy coins" like Ike's that will hold messages!
