Found this Lincoln cent in my change.... Error or just beat up?

    Curious if this is some type of error, looks like the top layer pealed away? I don't know much about errors for all I know this is just beat up. I did the best I could with the pics. image.jpg

    Looks like it was plated, (science experiment or something else). It's peeling away.

    I'm guessing that it is some form of environmental or chemical damage.

    Ok well at least Now I know. I didn't think it was anything special but it did stand out so I figured I'd check. Appreciate the quick responses!
