Hey Reed, It's taken me longer to post to this thread than I expected and I don't even have that great of a photo at that, but I too find LMCs in pocket change from time to time with a touch of color on them. I found this one about 2 weeks ago and set it aside. Unfortunately, there's a bit of surface contamination and maybe the beginnings of verdigris, so I set it far aside from my other coins. Nice finds!! Unfortunately, I don't happen to have any pictures, but have come across similar LMC's in change as of late, early 80's as well...
I will wager the OP's coin has either been through the washing machine (i.e. in a pocket) or otherwise exposed to a soap. The blue/violet color is very typical of this. Regardless of its genesis, they are very attractive and a great find in pocket change. Take care...Mike
