I found this 1959 nickel in a roll. Near the date their is metal protruding from the coin. Is it an error or Pmd?

    Could be lamination error

Most likely post mint damage. At some point the coin was exposed to some kind of heat or took a hit. I don't think this is a lamination error because that is when a portion of the coin "peels off" the other side of the coin in a way.
