I found this 1978 Washington quarter with no mint mark. What is different about this particular coin is the circular indentation on the Washington side. Is this a know error and furthermore could this coin be valuable??? There is a slight indentation in the reverse side as well. Thanks for look everyone!!! IMG_0720.JPG IMG_0721.JPG

The coin was damaged after it left the mint.

The reason the coin doesn't have a mint mark is that up till 1979, when quarters were minted in Philadelphia, they didn't put a P mint mark on it. Your quarter is from Philadelphia and is not an error.

    The circle is damage

    Your Quarter is worth 25C

I thought that this would be the case as I couldn't find any other error even remotely similar to it. Thanks for taking the time to take a look

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

The circle was cause by a rolling machine or a counting machine.
