What year is it from, what company is it graded by, and what grade was it given? After we get that info, we can give you an estimation of it's current market value.

its a 1922, it was given a ms60+ and i think it was graded by blanchard, that is what it says on the label

Someone who collects the different slab types might give you more for it since that is not a common slab type.

Hi pepperjack, and [IMG] to CoinTalk.

    That's a nice find.
Are there really people who collect the slab, not the coin? [IMG]

Yep--I know one...he does mostly sample slabs but I wouldn't think that it would be only samples...

Wow, I can't believe people collect these. I have a whole bunch of them, I should find out if any of them are valuable I suppose. Most of them are about 10-15 years old too I believe, as I got them between the ages of 5-10.

Conder101 collects the different slab types, and even wrote a book about them.

I was looking at the PGCS priceguide and I have noticed that they list only double eagles 1922 and 1922-S. They say no mintmark for Philadelpha. On the other hand, this coin is marked 1922-P. What gives?

1922-P means it was minted at the Philadelphia mint, not that it has a P mintmark.

    good find

k thats a great find i give it ms-62. The gradding company tends to undergrade better coins. Id say its worth around 250. If u try to sell i would ake it out of the case and lable ms-62.

Remember the old adage,'Buy the coin, not the slab'.

I'd like to know how you came up with that price? It's over an ounce of gold. It has to be worth over $650 just for the gold. As I have learned here the grade doesn't matter much for gold unless it is in the very best grade. As it seems to be a rare slab, I think that makes it a little more interesting.

    Very nice find!!! And Welcome...

    First of all Welcome!

Never heard of Blanchard but am not considering digging a basement.

Hey, I 'd settle for a hidden room of SGS slabs!
