Sorry, the old plastic wrapper is making it look like there are stratches on the coins that are not. especially the 1906 gold one. please tell grade and price it's worth.. thanks.
Nice find, they were probably hidden for a reason after 1933, like lots of other folks hid their "Rainey Day" funds. Gold is up these days too Bone
god, i want a 20 gold piece SOO bad. Beautiful coins. The 1906 would probably bring.. $500~ .. but i'm no expert. the S mark on the last one ( barber) looks funky. let me know something about this
NICE, the 1906 would melt for $500, so it must have a numismatic premium over bullion value. the mintage is 620.250
anyone for grading them and prices? I looked at the S mint mark on the dime, and it's normal, just out of focus on the picture, sorry.
I'm no expert but hers what i think... the 1903 eagle looks Au-55 to me so it would be worth around $290 the 1906 Ddouble eagle looks MS60-MS-62 putting it around $650 the 1874 double eagle looks EF so it would be worth about $650 also the quarter looks about good, and is pretty beat up it might bring about $10.00 (the details also look a little funny) the dime looks about EF-45 and would bring about $25 but i agree the "s" looks a little funky I'm not a pro grader so don't take my word as the truth, but this is my opinion :thumb:
The S looks ok to me, but I'm no expert. The seated liberty is worth a couple bucks, I would imagine, because it has been played with. Someone carved lines in to represent where the arm would be, or where the lines in the dress would appear, but it is definitely intensional damage. I don't know much about double eagles, but they do look cleaned. I'll take your word that it is the holder. I would get them in new holders ASAP. You don't know what's in those old old plastic flips.
Here are my grades from bottom up....go to ebay and look up these grades and dates for prices as that would be the best price guide I can point you too. I haven't read what anyone else said the coins graded.... 1913-S dime...VF NET F cleaned... 1854 Quarter...G...PVC damaged...you need to get it out of the flip and in to Acetone....serach the forum for Acetone and PVC. 1874S $20 gold...VF..... 1906D $20 gold...AU but might be cleaned.... 1903 $10 gold...AU....some of the hair shows wear... Speedy
ok i'll get them all out of the holder and get new pictures and then put them in new holders..i'll try to post the pictres tonight.
New pictures of coins Ok I got them out of the holder, I posted a close up of the S and the quarter, seems to have some sort of junk on it, I removed some with my fingernail, and it was whiter under it, hence the lighter areas on "america" now. I think it like food actullly?? just a crust, is it ok to soak it? or will it mess it up? I also omited the 1874 this time as it's obviously not as good as the gold ones.
I wouldn't....its just fine the way it is... I still go with the grades I posted above....nice coins! Speedy
I have a question about hte 1906 gold coin. I thought "In God We Trust" Didnt start going onto our money until the '50s?
on the 1906-D DE, i'll go with MS-62, but if i had the coin, and could look at the eyebrow andforehead, i'd probably hit it with an AU-55. Beautiful Specimen.
Ok, thanks for the clearifycation. I was just wondering, becaues I have some bills that dont have "In God We Trust". But Duh, I guess I could have answered it my self, because I have a few peace dollars haha.
They didn't use the motto on paper money until 1957. As for the coins, in my opinion they have all been harshly cleaned. As a result I would net grade them as - '06 - XF '03 - XF '74 - VF '16 - VF
Mine left me a gold retirement railroad watch. My cousin ended up with it and I haven't seen it since.
