I found these coins at an old farm house while metal detecting. I love finding Standing Liberty quarters they are few and far between. I love all the detail on such a small space. This one had a 1929 wheat penny sitting on her in the hole.

What is this huge Mexican coin? It looks like it was either silver plated or nickel? I can't make out a date on the thing. It is huge!! Any info you can give me on this one will be appreciated. I have never seen on like this. You can see the size compared to the photo of all the coins.

Also got some silver dimes. Check out the back of the 34 mercury dime. Fun stuff.

Wow, the standing liberty and mercury are in really nice shape for being in the ground. I am willing to bet they were mint fresh before someone dropped them. Even the Merc still has the full split bands on the fasces.

What type of metal detector are you using?

I heard they are really nice but can be a little difficult to learn how to use it. I have a much cheaper Garrett. My Garrett seems to work great at the NJ beaches but try for more typical NJ soil and it's all over the place.

the Mexican looks like an 8 reales , Also looks like an off center strike?. Your pics cut off the date.

Its not silver though. Looks to be silver plated. Probably someone trying to make a counterfeit back in the day or something? Also, I cannot make out the date it is all worn

Glad to see you're back to detecting (and posting your finds) since the weather's been so awesome the last few days.
Looking forward to seeing more metal detecting finds (from anybody), I love looking at the pics. Makes me jealous though. My detector's been sitting idle for a while.
