Found out I made a top pop Roosevelt 3/0

I have been recently searching 1984 mint sets for great looking coins.
I am working on build a birth year set for my fiance (soon to be wife Aug 8th ).
I have always enjoyed the hunt of searching raw much more than just buying coins already graded.
I ended up finding 2 1984-P Roosevelt that had Full Torches and that I though would get MS67.
Well 1 came back MS68FT and the other MS67FT!! :hail:
The MS68FT is a Top Pop will only 3 graded at this level!!
I also submitted 1 Washington and I am very happy with the grade.
I didn't do so good with the Lincolns...I am still have troubles picking out the high grades. :desk:

The '84-P is one of my favoroite dates to hunt since there's such a wide spread in quality and they are so tough in super high grade. It is one that's not too tough in gem so also-rans are fun to find while you're looking for the best.

These are available in rolls a little bit but roll coins are always bad for this date.

Roll coins suffer from weak strikes and worn dies while mint set coins usually are marked. There's also a little trouble with die alignment on this date.

I bought 20 sets from a dealer and only 3 coins were worth getting graded.

 

What is FT after MS 67? Turn around for slabbing coin How many days and how much they cHarge you to slab it?
Just need to know... Did you mail your coin for grading.. Or just dropped it on their location..

My order was receieved 5/11/10 and shipped back to me 5/21/10.
It cost $12.50 per coin plus shipping and handling charges.
I mail all of the coins to flordia for grading since I live in Virginia.

LOL!!! Thats great, Im glad it went into good hands. Top pop gets huge points in the registry set. I would guess you paid a fraction of what it cost to buy one also. theres 7 of them in the PCGS but with that said it still a very valuable coin. When the roosevelt series is changed we will all be happy we collected them………………Right now people kind of make fun of us for collecting them:secret:

Great coin and grade. This one makes up for that Millenium one.

 

Actually to be honest yes. All you have to do is look at the hair detail. It has a lot more detail on the MS68 coin. Otherwise both coins have clean fields!!

I have about $20 in each of the Roosevelts. I bought 20 sets, I ended up selling 15 sets and had to keep 5 sets since I cut a coin out of it. Well I will be ordering some more sets since I was only able to add 2 coins.

Wow good eye, it seems to me you have something so many of us (especially me) lack, focus. You mention that you had bought twenty sets, I would bet that besides the twenty sets you bought, you have probably seen more Roosevelts than there are twenty cent pieces. My hat is off to you.
