  1. i found a "peace dollar" while detecting on my local beach, it must have been someones "lucky " piece ( well it was lucky for me), and due to tha condition that i found it in was probably a recent loss, the date is 1923 and looks in fairly good condition, does it have any value. mike.:smile

Can you post a picture to see the condition? The silver alone is worth a few bucks

1923 is a common date, and since it was found at the beach and was likely a pocket piece...it's probably pretty circulated. I doubt it has any real value over it's melt silver value. Currently, the melt value is $10.90.

But, if it's in better shape than I am assuming it could be worth a little more. Post a picture and we can give you a better idea.

The 1923-S is nearly as common as the 1923. In that condition, I don't think it's worth anymore than the melt value. It's still an awesome find though. :)

    Great find!
I have only found one silver $ on the beach, I forge the date right now, and would have to look it up.
But it was a common morgan.

Silver, when exposed to sale water over time, turns black, so you can be sure that yours was lost recently.

    Congrats on a great find.

Yes I do agree also if its been on a beach any anount of time the sand would of wore it down smooth. I have a 8 reale from the Spanish ship wreck Joahanna . This ship was a reef wreck off South Africa coast. The coin is soooooo smooth it feels like butter in your hand. However has two areas where the cross and shield are like just minted! One of my fav's due to the feel in your hands. Great find on the Peace dollar! :thumb:
