Found my first United States Note

Decided to cash out some rolls of quarters the other day and on a whim got a strap of $2's. Found this guy half way through.

That is a nice example. I would dare say those are getting scarce to find in the wild.

Nice find. Here are some that I saved out of circulation when they were still to be found.

 

Fun fact: the government re-issued red seal $2 notes into circulation until about 1990. It was at this time the processing equipment was updated and red seal twos abruptly disappeared from circulated FRB straps. Before this update took place, red seal $2 notes were frequently and abundantly found in circulation.

This is a bit of a stretch but one may argue that this large attrition in the $2 bill supply led to a need for a fresh printing of $2 notes in 1996, the first printing of the denomination to occur since 1979.
