I dont often find coins in change that I want to keep but this one I will, I picked it up at the local supermarket, the cashire was trying to palm it off to me without me noticing LOL she got quite upset when I spotted it, then coudnt understand why I was going to keep it
Well if you have a close look you might just notice that it is missing a great deal of it's cladding yet has been quite well circulated by the look of it.
ohhh ok! lol I thought that was just like, some coloration it had - so I couldnt figure out what was so special, lol. also, how did she try to give it to you without noticing? was it a big deal?
Normaly the change is counted out into your hand but this time it was thrust with a reciept on top LOL so I just had to check it, and that was when I seen the coin When I made a point of going 'Oh look at this coin' She got upset and said that I had been given it by mistake LOL and when I said Um I think it might well be worth something on Ebay It suddenly became 'Oh give it back and I will replace it' LOL you actualy had to be there to see It She was decidedly unhappy when I said I was keeping it
I beg to differ. I can repeat the same thing with a copper penny on the top of the Queen Elizabeth 50p and wash it out. This way, a copper wash is formed all over the coin except the area where the pence has been at the Queen. I've done similar things in the past when I did a lot of coin washing as a nasty experiment and this can happen.
I was wondering, 50 pences are not copper coins that have been clad. They are the same colour all the way through?
