found in cayman island

I found this while swimming in the cayman island. Can anyone help identify this? Is it anything or just junk? Thanks in advance

Looks like a cast made to sell to unsuspecting tourists. It appears to be a Spanish cob style coin.

 

Thank you. I was thinking it was junk because it was just to easy to find sitting there at the bottom.

 

Some things never change! During the gold and silver strikes of the 19th century, there were incidents of con men "salting" claims and then selling them for high prices.

Some tourist had it clanking around in their swimming britches an' it slipped into the tempestuous seas for ya' ta find.

 

I was thinking a tourist thought the ocean was the biggest wishing well he'd even seen, made his wish and tossed it in the drink.

 

It is 2, 4 or 8 reales from Spanish colonies.

I would agree on this being a modern tourist piece, the edge looks rolled, on a authentic coin it would be flat.

 

Can't really tell from pics, but if your story is true, it could be real.
