I have found this coin and I am wondering if it is worth anything and any info on it is greatly appreciated.
The coin is about the size of a quarter seems to be bronze, on one side it has a eagle holding a spear with two flags partly wrapped on it and says maine the pine tree state admitted to the union on march 15, 1820 flower pine cone and tassel, bird chickadee. The other side has maine on top with the outline of the state Showing augusta, Than below it says The 23rd state.

It isn't a coin at all. With the rare exception of some Arab/Asiatic countries, all modern coins have a denomination and a minting date specified on their face. Virtually all except United Kingdom issues have the name of the issuing country as well. (Those inscriptions are generally in the language of the country, not always English). :D

You have some kind of medal or token, and from your description it sounds like it may be part of a series of state tokens, such as the aluminum one that Shell Oil put out several years ago to give away with gasoline purchases. The included details about the state certainly support that theory.

There are a number of private mints (Franklin, Hamilton, etc.) that produce and sell collectible tokens/medals, and an uncounted number of advertising piece producers. They are all collected as "exonumia", coin-like and coin-related materials, including wooden nickles :p , the coins that get thrown to the parade watchers during Mardi Gras :) , subway tokens, elongated cents  , World War II OPA ration points, etc., etc., etc.

They are generally worth a buck or less, but you might try checking EBay's exonumia category for something similar, which might give you a clue to it's value. There are less than 8,500 auctions in that category right now[IMG] .
