Wow....I was just coin roll hunting and I found this 1939 Nickel.... It's beautiful ( my opinion ) and has from what I can see, not too many scratches at all...You know what's weird, in January I found a 1939 Nickel that looked as good as this one does...Same year?!?!?...Anyways, this is a keeper I do believe
Dude. The second is just a normal 1939. Those you can find fairly often in good condition. The first coin you posted is the 1939 Doubled Die Reverse: http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/4004 http://www.varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/1939PDDR001.htm Take a closer look...
That is definitely one of the key doubled dies of the series. Getting it for face value in that condition is sweeeeet.
I know! Man! And he's such a good chum, too, as far as those go, anyway, I'm really liking his style. And here he is, just sleepwalking through this, and he hits the jackpot! Come on, @SmokinJoe! Speech! Take a bow, you deserve it!
Or, @SmokinJoe , I'll make you an offer....I have a roll of 39Ps that are in great condition...I will take that first coin off your hands and give you my roll . Yours is messed up... and you know you'd rather have nice shiny looking coins I kid I kid. Seriously though, congrats. Keep your eyes peeled.
Oh My GOD.....No, I did not look at it ....Oh wow....I am keeping it for sure, but do you guys think it is worth?????
I would think it books somewhere between $100 and $200 depending on grade (I'm assuming XF-AU.) You did very, very nicely for 5 cents! Side note: perhaps this will be the coin that jump starts/inspires your variety searching quest. At the very least you have to learn to recognize the major DD's like this one haha (it's even in the Red Book!)
