Hey everyone, mostly a lurker on here, trying to learn as much as I can, this is one awesome place by the way!

So I found this penny when getting change somewhere the other day. Cashier gave it to me and caught my eye instantly.

Its a 1995 Lincoln Cent, but it has a silver rim. Its 3 layers when looking at it from the side, or so it seems, the outer layers on each side are the copper like metal, but the middle layer is silver in color. So its 2 copper layers sandwiching a silver layer, with the edges of the obverse and reverse silver.

I hope I am describing this so you guys can understand, I wish I could scan a picture but I don't have a scanner.

Anyone ever heard of this, what do you think happened? Worth anything?

    Thanks a ton!

People will need a pic to make any substantial comment.
www.photobucket.com is a good place to go.

As for the coin, I'd guess that most likely its post-mint damage, and the thin copper plating was removed along the rim. All cents minted after 1982 are copper plated zinc, so the silver color you see is probably that. Really need pics to say much though.

    Agree with above
However if you can get a picture posted or a link it would help much more.
