Went detecting and found a cool old large cent. I love finding large cents. This was the only old coin I found in this yard. Fun stuff.

Nice find, the only large cent I ever found like that was in an old field and it was very corroded...

That's been in the dirt for a long time jimmiejam, but it doesn't look too bad. Congrats on a great find

good job, what would you say the ratio of bottle caps to large cents is now?

Wow-- that reminds me of a story I read in 2nd Grade. A little boy was given a big shiny penny (presumably a Large Cent) to go to the store to buy some candy. But along the way, something happened, and he lost it. After going through much grief, he eventually got over his loss. Then, about a year later, he was walking along the same road, and saw something dark and round by the side of the road. You guessed it-- it was the penny he had lost the year before. Happy ending.

There are not many bottle caps at old farmhomes. Plus if you know what your doing you can tell the junk from the coins. I've found over 30 large cents in the years I have been detecting.
