I have been checking my change and currency for years for things to put away or add to my collection, I check my currency every time I complete a transaction for star notes and for the first time EVER, I found my first star note!! Its a 2001 series CL 01611816 $5.00 Star Note!!!! Its in very nice shape for being 5 yrs old. I'm waiting to find a $10 or $20 now.
I hear that . I have not seem very many $5 star notes. As for the 10 and 20s I have ten $20 in order with stars. and i find tens with stars pretty often as well. THeres a bank about 5 minutes from me that it seems for some reason ALWAYS has star notes. Anyone have any idea why that is? I Actaully think i will be going there again very soon.lol By the way good find.
Fives are rarest (among the average Joe's notes) for a very logical reason. Twenties and tens come out of ATMs (some ATMs do dispense tens), and ones are printed in such numbers that star notes are more likely. Fives, however, fall between the cracks. I once made a withdrawal inside at the counter and got three (3!) consecutive hundred dollar star notes. Just about made me cry to spend them.
i found a 1999, 2001, and 2003 star note $5 two nights ago. I have $10 and $20 star notes... but I have yet to see a $20 2004 A star note
That really depends on the demonination, year, and the bank. I have a $20 that's worth 300-500 bucks and a $10 that's worth 80-100 bucks
I got a $20.00 green star from the bank today 2004 EC with strong crisp edges ,any ideas on its value?
A star note is a note with a (*) in the prefix or suffix of the serial number. These notes are used to replace a note damaged during the printing process in order to keep the correct count of notes in a serial number run.
