Went to my local Credit Union to pick up some singles. Only got 10 but the funny part is they are crisp an from the NYDistrict printed at Fort Worth. Now the front plate number has fwA158, the 158 is the size of the dc numbers not fw. the back plate number is the fw size. What are they doing? moon lighting for Washington DC to get more bills out faster? Dean 295
I did say singles, One dollar bills but I didn't state what series.Oh well you forget when it looks odd. the series is 2006. Thanks Dean 295 You guys are super. Checked the us paper money and there it was . Printed by Fort Worth, I thought I had something. Oh well I can put my W/G stuff on them and spend them. Thanks to krispy and mpcusa.
So you did. thanks for pointing it out. Hope that site can help but I don't know if they've gotten much up on 2006 notes yet. So in that case, CT member NUMBERS who works with that site could probably help you with your questions.
It's only the back plate number that's ever been larger on the FW notes--the face plate numbers are the same size at both FW and DC. (Well, except for those new SOI-press $20's that DC's been printing for a year and a half....) And, yes, the division of labor between DC and FW has been odd lately--all $1's have been printed at FW for the past nine months, and so you can find Series 2006 $1's on all twelve districts with the FW mark, which is certainly a departure from past practices. The explanation most likely includes (a) the unusual mix of denominations that the BEP's been printing lately, with exceptionally high demand for $100's, and with no $10's or $50's printed for some time due to earlier stockpiling of those notes; and (b) production constraints resulting from the ongoing changeover to SOI presses--the total production capacity at either FW or DC is periodically lower than normal, when an old press has been taken out and its SOI replacement is still being shaken down.
