Is it sold out or temporarily out of stock?

It amazes me how many cent collectors there must be out there for this to happen. This has been brewing for 100 years. :)

That is a lot of cent rolls out there. I wonder if this would qualify it as the most hoarded coin the mint ever produced? No way to check this, but does anyone have any idea of a coin that would top this one?

The only other one I could think of would be the Bicen. Quarter. Also, I guess some people have a lot of rolls of certain State Quarters, but I wouldn't think in this amount.

Such hoarding of a specific coin or anything makes it almost worthless for a long, long time. This is sort of what happened to the 31S Lincoln Cent. Now with this excessive hoarding of this one, the eventual value will be practically nothing. People aren't just hoarding a few, they are stock piling many rolls of each one.

I dont use cash much at all so I dont get a lot of change but I have already found 3 or 4 in the little amount of change I DO get...It blows my mind people are selling these for such prices. It just goes to prove my theory that coin collecting and common sense often do not mix. ;) But hey...if people are willing to shell out the money...might as well cash in...

Having horded wheaties from birth (and beyond...got some large cents, one half cents/busted cents/2 cents/3 cents {I suppose someday China will make us a 4 cents}/ half nickel/half dime/ quarter eagle...etc....kinnda a pile of different kinds just because they are different)

I am most pleased to see a different attitude from those that maintain the other aspect of "Betterness". But in the end we all get slabbed and then taxed at the new improved rate.

Therefore I decided to start looking for new Lincoln series....on the "street". Waiting for them to come into usefulness.

Buying/Selling/Making coins is a hobby for kings. Using/Finding such devices, IMHO, is for the rest of us. And I find it stimulating to be sentient.
Many money changers find it irritating. :stooge:

When the BiCen Quarter came out I actually sought them out and saved some.

Since then I've found they serve quite well in parking meters, late fees at the Library and shims on crooked book shelves.

Though I could have put them into the stock market or a hedge fund.

Anybody want to buy my horde of BiCent quarters?:desk:

Guess you pay your library late fees with Star notes and they give you my quarter back in the change?:D

With almost 2 billion of them out there it's hard to consider them unique.

    ...or...I looked up your SIGNATUE.

..and I have some wooden nickels.....

Me too. I save them in standard paper rolls. Then when I have 2-4 rolls worth I auction them off. Usually sell pretty well.

Bicentennial quarters? I'd like to get ahold of some. I think it's against the rules to discuss buying and selling in this forum, but PM me if that's what we're talking about.

And it's only a coincidence that they sold out the day before the next one in the series came out.
