    Hello all,
I have just inherited some bills from my grandfather and was wondering if anyone could help me with the value. There are quite a few so I am only going to list a couple and will post pictures later if anyone wishes to see them. One is Diez pesos with EL ESTADO DE CHIHUAHUA on top. It is from mexico and the date is 1914. I also have the same one but with the 5 pesos denomination. I also have another that on top says Darlehnskaffenfchein (hope that is right) and in the middle says FunfMark from berlin 1917. This one has a 5 all over it. Last one for now is one that on top it says eine milion mark and is from berlin 1923. Well any help with any of these would be great and thanks for just looking as well.

Without any pics I would hazard a guess and say that they will have been issued by the central bamk (Richbank) the 1st (1917) is from the Imperial era and the 2nd from the Wimar era and sounds like a inflation issue. from your discription I dont think that they are Notgeld, but I might be wrong LOL as for value a lot would depend on the condition but I shoudnt plan on buying that boat just yet :D

Not quite, but see this page (particularly the "Darlehnstaffenfchein, Darlehnstassenschein or Darlehnskaffenfchein" section :) ):

I am afraid that they are not in the best of condition, but I do like the Million Mark note :D it looks like regular issue from the Rich bank before the period when inflation just went crazy.

Umm, you may want to read the text further above on that page; it's "Darlehnskassenschein" (also see the links to the pages that specifically deal with those notes). Don't know much about those, but apparently they were not issued by the central bank (Reichsbank). However, according to that article they were pretty much used like "regular" notes.

The 1 million note is a Reichsbank issue indeed. Sorry, no idea what it could be worth. At the time when it was issued (Aug-1923) that amount would have bought you about 300 grams of butter or 20 eggs ...
